Welcome to our classroom!

Many of you are wondering about the Native American/Early Explorers project. Students received a rubric of how they will be assessed for this project. They need to tell how the Native American groups (all groups as a whole) are alike and different from the Early Explorers (again as a group - not individuals). They may create a chart listing the "likes" in red and the "differences" in blue, they can create a Venn diagram, they can use pictures. This project is open to interpretation as long as they can explain in their presentation how they are alike and different (compare and contrast). I will be giving students information to use in our daily lessons. They will also receive information on culture (music, art, dances) in music, art and p.e. These notes will be useful for the project; it will be difficult to try and get all of the information from their history books. They also need to use multiple sources (internet, books, notes, videos, etc.) and cite those sources on another page. On Wednesday the 16th, I will be checking in with them to see if they know what type of project they are doing (PowerPoint, brochure, chart, video, etc) and how they plan on keeping their research organized (folder/notebook). Each area that students are being asked to compare and contrast is worth 13 points. That means each of these areas should contain more than two or three examples in order for me to give full credit. If you have any questions about this project or anything else, please contact me!
